Sea Change was inspired by a challenging life transition and the emotional dissonances that accompanied that change. This experience informs the structure and mood of Sea Change, which fluctuates between a minimalist tranquility and jazzy imbroglio, just as the sea itself waves between calm and tumultuous. Sea Change was written in spring 2014 for the Cleveland Institute of Music Young Composers Program (2014) and Ars Futura. |
